Tiffany & co.inc. The company was founded in 1837 by C.L. Tiffany and J.B. Young; initially, they purchased goods from T.C. Moore silversmiths, which was later incorporated into the company; they then began producing silverware and various articles in silver and electroplate, but the company’s peak came after the Civil War. Tiffany is credited with introducing “ENGLISH SILVER” (925%) in the USA; this standard was later adopted as the national standard by the American government.
